The book BIRDS of the MENINDEE Lakes Area was recently published by Geoff Looney and is a fantastic resource for bird lovers, containing photographs and stories from his many years living in and capturing birds, wildlife and nature in and around #Menindee.
As a former award-winning tour guide and now full-time bird photographer, Geoff Looney’s dedicated and thorough observations of bird life, fish health, water quality and management mean he has vast insight into the ecological changes that have taken place at the #MenindeeLakes over the last 30 years.
Featuring Geoff’s own photographs and details about where and when species have been sighted, the book is a stunning display of the incredible biodiversity and beauty of Menindee Lakes bird life. This book is a must for #birdlovers and wetland enthusiasts
The book can be purchased by contacting Geoff directly. (See post image)

Thanks for sharing! ❤️❤️
Love Wilcannia so much history. Dad used to tell me the stories of what went on at the pub back in the 70s and 80s. A real proper roughneck place.
Agree Cathy a lot to see in Wilcannia. Beautiful buildings with lots of history attached to them friendly people.

Love our weekly visit to Wenty for coffee and check out the stores. We have made some great friends. 👏👏
Visit Fred Hollows Grave & Memorial at the Bourke Cemetery.
Fred Hollows received a state funeral in 1993, but his final resting place is under a Coolabah tree in Bourke, as he wished.
While surprising to some, those who knew Fred find it fitting. He dedicated his life to restoring vision, driven by egalitarian principles that led him to address the poor health conditions of Aboriginal people in the 1970s. His pioneering techniques transformed eye care for thousands, later expanding to help impoverished communities worldwide.
Fred’s work continues through the Fred Hollows Foundation. Bourke proudly maintains a memorial at his gravesite—a place of reflection and tribute to a man who changed so many lives.

I made sure to visit the site on my first ever trip to Bourke last October!
It's a very interesting cemetery
We’ve paid our respects to Fred, his brother and sister in law a few times, on our visits to Bourke.
